What is non-medical home care?
Non-medical home care helps individuals live safely and comfortably in their own homes by providing support with the activities of daily living. This includes personal care such as bathing and dressing, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, medication reminders, and more.
Unlike skilled medical care, non-medical home care does not involve nursing procedures or medical treatment. Instead, it focuses on quality of life — helping people maintain independence, dignity, and connection to the people and communities they love. It's an ideal option for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and anyone who needs a helping hand at home.
Home Safety Tips
A few simple changes can make a home significantly safer for those receiving care.
- Remove loose rugs and clear walkways to prevent falls.
- Install grab bars in bathrooms and near stairs.
- Keep frequently used items within easy reach.
- Ensure good lighting throughout the home, especially stairways.
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors regularly.
- Keep a list of emergency contacts and medications handy.
- Wear non-slip footwear and use mobility aids as recommended.
- Set water heaters to a safe temperature to prevent burns.
